El Cafeito

El Cafeito… The Little Café… Serves Hacienda San Pedro Coffee imported from Puerto Rico and for those desiring a milder flavor there is locally roasted La Colombe Coffee. Let co-proprietor and Chef Lisa Padilla prepare for you one of our specialty dishes. You can enjoy a hot or cold sandwich including the mouth watering Cuban Sandwich made with succulent roast pork, our home made soups or specialty vegetarian burgers. All of our sandwiches are served on warm fresh baked bread. To cool your taste buds at any time of the year, El Cafeito has frozen fruit and yogurt smoothies. Or maybe you’ll just want to delight your taste buds with a delicious Puerto Rican pastry to go with that piping hot cup of fresh coffee. El Cafeito is the realization of a dream come true for owners Olga and Osvaldo DeJesus. Olga who grew up just a few blocks away and husband Osvaldo have worked tirelessly for two and a half years to transform what was a vacant blighted building into a warm and cozy authentic Puerto Rican Café. The atmosphere is bathed in warm earth tones… with photographs of Puerto Rico decorating the walls. El Cafeito also has outdoor seating where in good weather visitors can almost feel a tropical breeze blowing. El Cafeito is surrounded by a culturally and economically diverse neighborhood where long time residents rub elbows with Temple University students.
El Cafeito is a touch of Old San Juan in Old Kensington. Located at 1700 North 3rd Street, El Cafeito is a vibrant addition to the neighborhood where visitors can sip a cup of coffee with friends….savor a tasty sandwich…quench a thirst with a smoothie or satisfy a sweet tooth with a freshly baked pastry.
